August 2008 Monthly Horoscope Forecast

As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, the Sun transits your 4th house.
Your home will be a place of refuge for you this month, or it may be time to focus on security needs. This would also be a good time for family get-togethers or for family to pitch in and get some home projects out of the way. Your parents or parental issues may also be important this month. For some a dominant male figure such as a father or husband may be of concern, for others the theme may be a wife or mother.
Property matters may also demand your time and attention. There may be discussions, contracts, or more work ahead related to home or property coming soon. Real estate, roommates, long-term security, or an ending to a current home, family, or property matter may play an important role for you during this transit.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
Opinions do vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spots are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something a within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Taurus, this solar eclipse is in your 4th house.
If your birthday falls April 27 – May 4 you will feel this eclipse more than others. If your birthday falls later, you may still sense the winds of change in the air. This series of eclipses falls on two important angles of your chart, the 4th and 10th houses. When angles are influenced in your chart, the energy often generates outward to all 4 corners of your chart. Your chart’s four corners relate to your 1st house of identity, your 4th house of home and family, your 7th house of important relationships, and the 10th house of career or your position in society. When the angles are activated as yours are during this series of eclipses, your life could be changed from top to bottom. Remember, there are more eclipses coming in 2009 so if you don’t notice any remarkable changes in the next 6 months, you may be in line for the next series. There is a new beginning in store for you, although something may end which makes room for something to develop in your life.
Mercury will conjunct the luminaries (sun and moon) which makes Mercury ruler of this eclipse. This eclipse may touch on issues surrounding finance, contracts, family, property, children, living arrangements, long distance travel, legal issues, parental concerns and/or relationships. There are no difficult aspects at this time so what you hear or discuss now may be in the initial stages of development.
If you’ve never owned your own home, this eclipse could set preparations in order. November will be an important time for contracts and Venus will be transiting your house of financial agreements which could help negotiations with banks or mortgage companies. Jupiter, your planet of expansion will also align with the sun in November which could help to sign a mortgage, home or property related agreement. If your home is in need of repair or remodeling, this eclipse could set things into motion.
There may be a fresh start for you concerning your living arrangements. You could share your space with your current romantic partner, perhaps you feel ready to take your relationship to the next level. You could help a sibling out and share an apartment, or your sibling may need a place to stay for a few months. Perhaps you will move back home to help you save money for your own place, or you could room with a college friend which would help out with expenses.
Your family situation could change which influences your home or property decisions. News related to pregnancy may come up, or discussions surrounding your children’s space may bring attention to redecorating or adding on to your home. Or you may move to a larger home to accommodate your growing family. Parenting issues may see a fresh start or the methods that you have used to care for your children may change. Your family may get a new pet, one that will be around for a long time.
Issues surrounding your Mom and/or Dad may be the theme of this eclipse. Your parents may be relocating, they may travel more in the months ahead, or because of a work or health matter, you will focus your attention on them. If you have been estranged from your family for any reason, this eclipse could create a new start and mend any broken fences. Family relationships should improve significantly under these alignments and your family could grow closer.
August 5, Venus enters your 5th house, Mercury follows August 10.
This transit favors love, romance, creative expression, the arts and entertainment. If you are ready for a good time, you just might get it now!
Singles could meet someone and start dating during this transit, if you do they will probably be around for a long time. This may be someone at work who has captured your attention. An old lover from the past, or someone who is living at a distance may reach out to you around mid-month.
Attached Taurus may find ease in their romantic relationship. Partners are warmer, kinder, and gentler as these are the characteristics you exude. Compromise may also be easier now. As the sun continues its transit of your home, this would be a nice time to have a party at your house. This is also a good time to get together with lovers and friends for some entertainment, visiting places of beauty, or going somewhere that is related to the arts.
If you have older children, talk to them now as Venus will help conversations run smoothly. Young children will want to play, and with Venus in this sector, play time will be easy for you to enjoy.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced one to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 month’s. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six month’s takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Taurus, this lunar eclipse falls in your 10th house.
If your birthday falls May 12- May 20 you will feel this eclipse more than others, although every Taurus may sense the shifts of change. The planetary ruler of this eclipse is Neptune. You may be asked to shed illusions, let go of the past, set your own agenda, or move out of a negative situation.
Mars and Pluto square off during this eclipse. These two dynamic energies cause disruptions, ignite tempers, cause power struggles and compulsive behavior. Pluto is the planet of transformation, which is usually subtle, but when you have an action driven planet like Mars involved the results become very telling. Astrologers know that when a planet is at the end of a sign, as Mars is now, that the energy of that planet is already at work in the next sign. Mars is currently poised at the end of your 5th house of playfulness, but its energy is active in your work, health and daily routines sector. Soon you will see how these issues play a role in the eclipse.
Each month we have a full moon that reflects matters going on between two polar opposite houses. This eclipse will do the same, only its energy is more intense. While the eclipse falls in your career, position and status, sector, it will also be felt in your home or property sector.
In regards to career matters, this eclipse may bring an ending to something you are doing now. If you are not working or do not want to find employment, this eclipse may concern an important member of your family, such as your parents, your father, or an important male figure in your life. Please keep this in mind throughout the eclipse forecast. This eclipse may find you changing organizations, or your career could include a transfer, relocation, or more travel in the months ahead. Your boss could leave, you may change shifts, or you may spend more time at work which could cause disruptions at home. This may influence home or family decisions and change your routine or committed relationship. Based on your solar chart, your financial status should improve. Letting go of your current situation may be the difficult part.
This eclipse could change home or family relationships due to career, your mate or parents’ situation. There may be work or health concerns that grab your attention. A partner or parent could require surgery, you may hire someone to assist in their care, or you may have added responsibilities helping them. Your wife or mother may be going back to work which could influence you and change your routines. Your family could relocate far from where you are now, or your family could move which means you will travel frequently to spend time with them.
Careers can end now, your position within a group or organization could change, a grievance or legal matter related to employment could be resolved, and unemployment issues may be finally over. Your title or marital status may be influenced. My husband asked me to marry him when he was transferred long distance. My job ended, my home changed, my name changed, and my children were affected. My life changed from top to bottom.
August 19, Mars bolts into your 6th house.
Mercury enters a one-on-one relationship Aug 28, and Venus enters on Aug 30. Since July 1st you may have had the opportunity to play hard, work on creative endeavors, socialize, and focus on romance or dating. Any of these areas may have held a disappointment or there may have been a disruption to plans, but overall it should have been an enjoyable transit for you.
Now that Mars transits your 6th house, those fun activities will take a backseat to schedules, routines and work, but you will fit them in. This transit may bring more work your way, your employer may seem demanding, or you may be asked to put in overtime. Mars can cause conflicts at work, so be careful that you don’t get into disagreements with co-workers. This is a good time to get hard work, including any work you do for yourself. You may have a tight schedule now, but if you make it your intention you can do this effectively.
Mars in this sector can cause accidents or inflammation. Drink enough fluids to keep your kidneys functioning properly, don’t strain yourself or you’ll end up with a sore back and watch your step! On the plus side, Mars in the 6th can give you the energy you need to perform vigorous exercise!
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 5th house.
This transit may highlight your creativity, or you may direct your energy to creative an endeavor, games, hobbies, sporting events or crafts. This is a good time to work on projects related to creativity, such as art, music, or writing.
Children, their routines or health checkups are an important topic during this transit. Pregnancy or childcare may require more attention now.
In addition, romance, dating, or your lover may be in the spotlight for you.
