There are two eclipses this month, a lunar eclipse in Capricorn followed by a solar eclipse in Cancer. These eclipses are forerunners for a new eclipse season in the cardinal signs. The cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) are self-starters, initiators, motivated, ambitious, and determined signs. All of the cardinal signs will be affected by this series of eclipses because they will influence the sensitive angles of your solar chart. The Cancer/Capricorn eclipse season will continue through July 2011.
If you have planets in your chart within 3 degrees conjunct or opposite of the eclipse, you can be assured you will be influenced. Those with planets within 5 degrees will also feel the eclipse in their lives, although the eclipse may not be as powerful. You may not have any planets in the Cancer and Capricorn sectors of your chart, but these empty houses and the issues they represent for you will be of greater significance over the next 18 months.
August will complete the eclipse season that began in Feb. 2008 in the fixed signs of Leo and Aquarius with a final eclipse in Aquarius on August 6, 2009.
You’ve come through a series of eclipses that helped you learn to express yourself within a group of like minded people. The Leo/Aquarius eclipses called upon you to reach out and love unconditionally. These eclipses encouraged you to give up part of yourself for something that others also identified with. This undoubtedly centered on the heart of your true nature. This may have been a humanitarian effort or a group cause. This next eclipse season is about building foundations, at home and in your public life.
Eclipse always herald in a new era for everyone. Eclipses have been viewed as bad omens since ancient times. Do not lead yourself to believe that something terrible will happen. Eclipses are catalysts for transformation and can lead to a crisis in ones life. This is why they are referred to as the “wild cards” of the zodiac. Look at any crisis as a crossroads, for you will be letting go of something so that a new chapter can unfold. An eclipse is a new or full moon, but they carry a triple power rating compared to our monthly lunar cycles.
This Cancer/Capricorn eclipse season will crystallize your needs and your ambitions. They will define how your home and family is structured. Your goals and career path will become clearer. You will learn self-discipline and responsibility, in your personal life and in the way you do business. The Cancer/Capricorn eclipses will help to balance your emotional and material security.
The last Cancer/Capricorn eclipses were August 1990—Dec. 1992 and July 2000—Dec. 2002. Think back, if you’re old enough, at what occurred in your life during those years.
You life may be influenced by an eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse date. If you have planets in your chart directly impacted by one of the eclipses, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the house that it governs in your chart.
Lunar eclipses are powerful full moons. Lunar eclipses amplify matters that have past their usefulness. They bring endings, closure, resolutions, solutions, and finality. They touch us at a deep emotional level and influence our relationships.
Solar eclipses are powerful new moons. Solar eclipses illuminate matters that call for your attention. A solar eclipse brings fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. However, if a solar eclipse conjuncts or opposes a planet or angle in your birth chart, you may find yourself in the midst of a crisis. Any crisis will prompt you to take the necessary steps for your destiny to unfold.
Scorpio, July spotlights higher education, legal issues, long distance travel, foreigners or foreign relations, religion and beliefs, media, or publishing.
New knowledge is in the stars. You may study, read a new series of books, or you could learn something about a family member or domestic situation. This is a thought provoking period for you, Scorpio.
This may be travel time where you’ll meet people from a completely different background than your own. If you do take a trip this month, you’re going to learn something new. At work, you may be handling foreign relations and travel issues, or you may be introduced to someone from a different country and become fast friends.
You may be taking a new study course, for business or personal reasons. Fall semester is right around the corner; you might be getting ready to head back to the classroom or you may be taking other classes. You could meet someone that becomes a mentor to you.
This sector of your chart governs truth and law. You might be concerned about a legal matter or you may seek counsel this month. The sun governs important male figures in your chart, so if none of this sounds like you, the transits may concern your significant other or a parental figure.
July 7, 2009, the full moon lunar eclipse occurs at 15° Capricorn.
Scorpio, this lunar eclipse falls in your 3rd house.
If your birthday falls within three days of Nov. 8, you will feel this eclipse more than others in your sign.
Saturn, ruling this eclipse, is currently transiting your 11th house of friends, groups, hopes and wishes. Saturn is at a supportive angle to the sun and moon in your 9th house of the law, long distance, education, and broadcasting. This suggests that the eclipse message may help you prioritize some important goals. It would help to talk about your concerns with a professional or you may confide in an elderly friend or father figure.
This eclipse could point to news or documents that require your attention. Whatever this is seems to have past its usefulness, or it is something that reflects parts of your past. This may be a government document from an authority figure, and may reflect your role in a legal matter. Themes could include taxes, alimony, child support, insurance, inheritance, workman’s compensation, loans, or your partner’s income.
The 3rd house governs relatives, but is more closely related to siblings. You may receive news concerning a sibling if you have one. News could come to you from far away, or may suggest that a sibling will be traveling or relocating somewhere far from where you are now. Another possibility is that you could be the one who travels to spend time with them. There will be a transition; hopefully this is something that you can learn to live with. There could also be the transition of a grandparent.
This lunar eclipse could finalize an agreement for you. This contract could be work or group related; however, the eclipse is not a career eclipse. The sun will enter your career on July 22 and there will be an emphasis on something going on at work for yourself or an important male figure in your life. Additionally, if you have an agreement with a friend, the eclipse could severe the ties between you. Read your rising sign for friendship influences.
The 3rd house governs transportation and local travel. If you have been driving an old car, or a car that stays in the shop more than it does in your driveway, you may be getting a new car in the months following this eclipse. Unfortunately, it could take some stressful circumstances happening to the old one to get you in a new ride. If you do, make sure we are not in a Mercury Retrograde when you take ownership. Other travel or transportation issues might play an important role in your life in the coming months as your schedule could change dramatically.
This eclipse could change your thinking or beliefs. If you’ve been stuck in a negative pattern of thought, or if you find that you worry excessively, this eclipse may present a more positive frame of mind, but it may take some real effort on your part. You could learn to concentrate, to be more cautious and considerate, and to speak effectively in a group. You may learn to hold your tongue and allow others to express themselves. We are not all born of these qualities; sometimes it takes an event to teach us through life experience.
July 22, 2009, Total Solar Eclipse at 29° Cancer.
Scorpio, this solar eclipse will fall at the end of your 9th house. If your birthday is within three days of Nov. 22 you will feel this eclipse more than others in your sign.
Uranus, the planet of surprising new developments is supporting you during this new moon. Uranus is currently poised in your 5th house of creativity, romance, children, leisure activities, and risk taking ventures. Big surprises are often the result of Uranus aspects as you will experience now.
This eclipse is concerned with increasing your knowledge for spiritual development, career matters, and personal successes. You may find a new church, spend more time in mediation, study metaphysics, the healing arts, or become more tuned-in to the spiritual side of your life.
Publishing your works may be the focal point of this eclipse. After much hard work you may finish your book, online business, or get a trademark or patent. I know an astrologer that wrote her first book after an eclipse to her 9th house. Your name could be widely known in the media.
There may be new developments for you concerning education. You could start college or you may finish your degree. You might commit to learning something new in the culinary arts, catering services, in another hospitality related industry, or in an environmental field. This eclipse may highlight education for your child or your significant other.
This eclipse could find you traveling a great deal throughout the coming months for your career or to visit a parent or grandparent. This could be a fresh start for your partner to begin traveling if it doesn’t influence you in this manner. If you never travel or haven’t the opportunity to take a vacation, you may be setting off for distant shores within a few short months. This could be the first time that you’ve ever been aboard an airplane! You could be traveling to see your sweetheart abroad, or you might be adopting a child from a foreign country due to this eclipse!
You could file a lawsuit, or you may be wrapped up in a legal issue that takes months to resolve itself. This could relate to taxes, alimony, divorce, child support, insurances, inheritances, loans or credit, commissions, workman’s compensation, or government benefits.
You will be learning something important during this eclipse season. You could teach or you may become a student, if not in a classroom, perhaps with a group of peers. You will learn to communicate effectively, to listen to what others have to say, and to share your ideas.
If other factors in your chart are receiving aspects from this eclipse, you could move long distance.
The sun enters your 10th house on July 22. You’ll turn your attention to career matters, your partner’s career, parenting, or your reputation. You will work hard for recognition as your driving force will be to make progress now. You will shine among your colleagues, regardless of employment status.
