August 2008 Monthly Horoscope Forecast

As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, the Sun transits you’re your 6th house.
Work, routines, employees and/or any service you provide will be highlighted now. The 6th house governs the manner in which you perform chores, or your duties. You will focus on your skills and strive to become more efficient. Co-workers may require more attention during this transit and may look to you for assistance. This is not a self-gratifying time, but it is a time that you will look at your work and what you can accomplish with a sense of pride and satisfaction. Issues surrounding child care, health care, family pets, home related projects and keeping schedules may demand your attention.
In your home, you may spend more time cleaning, or organizing. If you have a list of chores, you’ll make every effort to complete the task. Mars will transit your 7th house of partners through Aug 19 so you may want to ask for help. Use patience, Mars can cause friction in relationships, especially for mid to later born Pisces.
You could find that you’re more concerned with your body and/or your diet. This is a good month for a checkup and a good time to think about dropping a bad habit.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
While opinions may vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spot dates are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Pisces, this solar eclipse will fall in your 6th house.
If your birthday falls Feb. 26- March 5 you will feel this eclipse more than others, although every Pisces may sense the shifts in their lives. The ruler of this eclipse is Mercury which may bring news, contracts, travel, issues surrounding finances (not income), your partner’s income, and/or surgery. This eclipse makes no difficult aspects, nor does it receive any. However, this eclipse can be challenging if it conjuncts or opposes a significant planet in your chart. There is a possibility that your forecast doesn’t speak for you, but may relate to your partner. The planets and houses govern important people in our lives, Pisces.
This eclipse may find you settling into a new routine. This could be for health reasons because you are ready to get fit and fabulous! If you can, wait until after the full moon before you weigh yourself again because we tend to retain fluids as the moon grows to fullness. Also, it would be best to start exercising now, then after the full moon start your new eating plan. Sure, you can cut back on sugars or start making conscious decisions about what you’re eating, but you are apt to eat more as the moon grows to fullness as our desires increase during the moons waxing phase. Additionally, small changes such as giving up sodas or snacking late at night can give you a big edge on a weight loss, forming better eating habits and may alleviate some of that heartburn.
Your daily living arrangements may change in the coming months. This could be because there is more traffic in the home with people coming or going. This could translate to family members or it may include contractors, construction workers, landscapers, or designers.
This may be the year you finally decide to get some help. You could hire a Nanny, a housekeeper, a gardener, an accountant, or a nurse if you have someone in your home that needs assistance.
There could be changes to your routines at work, if you are employed. This is not a career eclipse, but it could influence something going on at your place of employment. You could be promoted, receive recognition for job performance; get a bonus or nice compensation package.
You could be opening a new business or take on a second job to help meet expenses. Childcare, interior design, housekeeping, accounting, editing, crafts or hobbies could bring in additional income. Some Pisces will retire under these alignments which would certainly be a fresh start in your daily routines. While there are new beginnings, there may be a new ending.
If you are long suffering from health condition such as allergies, foot problems, back pain or insomnia, this eclipse may find you on a healing path. There are undertones which suggest that a health condition could require surgery, but your natal chart should support this as well so you shouldn’t worry unnecessarily.
August 5, Venus enters your 7th house, Mercury’s ingress is August 10.
This is one of the best transits for relationships, love affairs, and marriage so you’ll want to take advantage of the energy at work. Problems can be mended, partners are generous, and compromise is easier now. This is an excellent transit for talking to your partner as they are more willing to listen now.
This is also a favorable time for matters related to mortgages, child support, taxes, partner’s income, and other credit or financial areas. If you need assistance, call a professional for advice.
This is a great transit for signing contracts, getting engaged or married or making long-term commitments. Saturn, Venus and Mercury all line up in your 7th house of important relationship matters. These planets reach out to Jupiter (your benefactor) in the sector of your chart that governs your hopes and wishes, Pisces. This is also a social time with weddings and social engagements; some may include friends and family members.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced one to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 months. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six months takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Pisces, this lunar eclipse falls in your 12th house.
If your birthday falls March 13- March 19, you will feel this eclipse more than others in your sign. Neptune conjuncts the moon at this time therefore Neptune will rule this eclipse. There may be something hidden, you may be asked to shed illusions, move away from the past, or let go of a negative situation. Hosting a lunar eclipse in the 12th house can be difficult as you are more sensitive to the moon’s influence. The eclipse will close a chapter for you, Pisces.
If you are employed, some part of your job may be ending now. Someone may leave your place of employment which may translate to more responsibilities for you. This person could work for you. Your hours may be cut back which influences your income, or you may leave because you retire or you need more time for personal issues. If you were involved in a grievance against your employer, this could come to a head in the coming months, or you may finally see an ending to a long drawn out situation.
If you have had a challenging health condition, this full moon could emphasize what’s going on. You may find a specialist and the next several months could find you making frequent visits to your doctor’s office. There may be a need for surgery which requires an extended stay in the hospital, if not for yourself, perhaps for your partner, your mother, or a close female friend.
This series of eclipses falls on your health and services axis. Being of service may require that you sacrifice your personal needs for a while. You may be taking care of someone who is sick, confined to the hospital or to their home. There may be frequent trips to therapy; all of this may be tiring for you. This would be in line with the solar eclipse and your routines changing. If this is something that is going on in your life as you read this forecast, any of the examples given could end now.
Psychological health may suffer if this eclipse aspects difficult planets in your chart. Even if it doesn’t, you may still notice the influence in the coming months. Eclipses falling in the 12th house can make you feel depressed, isolated, sad, lonely, or may have you thinking that no one understands your problems. You’ve had eclipses to your sign and your relationships since March 2006 which may have resulted in more than one difficult transition. Life changing transitions can influence your emotional health, Pisces so if you are long suffering, you must not let this go on without seeking professional help from your doctor. If this is you, there may be a way out now that will set you on a path of emotional healing.
You may also notice psychic tendencies becoming more pronounced, an active dream life, heightened sensitivity to other people’s problems and/or your intuition may be stronger.
The 12th house does govern losses and endings. If you have a beloved pet, please keep your eye on your friend at this time. This eclipse could result in the transition or a loss of a pet. When I relocated this past January I had planets opposing planets in my progressed 12th house and Neptune was involved. We had to rush our dog to the Emergency Vet for intestinal bleeding. While I was away from home my beloved cat went out and didn’t come back. Each day I would come in and ask if she came home, but she didn’t. I even contacted a pet psychic for help and an astrologer friend because I felt too close to the situation to be objective. I saw her in a dream before I ever found her and gave her a home. She was my baby for 18 months and it pains me when I think of her today. The diagnosis for Chloe was rat poisoning, although I have no idea where it could have come from. She’s happy and healthy at home now. If you are a student of astrology, doesn’t this sound like a Neptune story? In addition, the series of eclipses that brought about our move was the same series that relocated me 18 years before for the same reasons with my first husband. The eclipse at that time included losing two pets; my dog was hit by a car and my cat died from an infectious feline disease. Pets are an important part of my life; your chart may not support something like this happening to you.
August 19, Mars enters Libra, your 8th house.
Mars has been transiting you’re your 7th house since July 1. While this is a great transit for initiating long-term contracts and commitments, it can also be disruptive in important relationships or marriage. Hopefully you and a partner got some hard work out of the way and you were able to move forward in a relationship or a contract. If you have had a problem with someone, there may have been conflicts or you may have felt that this person was getting in your way or trying to block your progress. This may have been a close friend for some, Pisces.
This next transit may find you wrapped up in financial matters. You may purchase more items on credit during this time. Mars can cause conflicts; there could be disagreements with partners over financial matters, or you may need to take the lead in making financial decisions. Creditors can also become more demanding that you make your payments on time.
Mars may push you to pay off your debts, find lower interest credit cards, and really pinch pennies to boost your savings account. This would also be a good time for you to talk to a banker about a loan or a mortgage. Friends may be generous and drop a gift in your lap.
This transit may stimulate your desire for sexual expression and you will be more likely to seek this during this time. Be careful that you do not become pushy or demanding of your lover. Emotions and ego issues are strong now.
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 7th house.
This is an important transit for intimate relationships and marriage. If you are in a committed relationship (not dating), take a closer look at your relationship and do your part in creating something lasting. This is not the time for you to be alone, reach out to people, Pisces. This is a good time to draw up contracts, consult experts, work with partners, make a proposal, and move forward in business.
