August 2008 Monthly Horoscope Forecast

As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, the Sun transits you’re your 11th house of friends, groups, goals and social events. Venus, attracts good times and continues to transit this area of your chart through August 5, Mercury' here through August 10.
This is the best time for friendships or any group activity. Relating with others should be easy now. People may be much more agreeable and friendly as this is the energy you will project. You will enjoy the company of others and your relationships will benefit from this transit. Any business meetings, seminars, or group involvement should be a pleasant and enjoyable experience for you. You may realize something important that you want in life now and come up with a plan of action to attain it. In-laws, stepchildren or adopted children could be highlighted by this transit.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
While opinions may vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spot dates are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Libra, this solar eclipse will fall in your 11th house of friendships, groups, in-laws, adopted children, step children and your hopes and wishes. If your birthday falls Sept. 30 –
Oct 6, you will feel this eclipse more than others, although all Libras may sense the shifts in their lives.
This eclipse may set you off in a new direction where you become active within a group, or there may be some sort of restructuring within your organization. This could be a volunteer, religious, or social services organization. Another possibility is that these people may be artists, designers, hobbyists, or be affiliated with the entertainment, media, publishing, travel or transportation industry.
The months ahead may find you socializing more and new friends may come into your life. There could also be an old friend that comes back from the past. This person may be a female that has been living long distance, possibly someone that you’ve worked with.
This eclipse may help to define your goals, or you may become more optimistic about your future. You may decide now that it’s time to go back to school to earn a degree. This could be well underway before we reach the next solar eclipse in January, or you may earn your degree between now and that time.
The 11th house is where you gain recognition for career efforts. This solar eclipse may be the push to the top that you were waiting for. You could end up in management, a supervisor, a teacher, or in a group leader position. While this is not a career eclipse, there are undertones that could affect your career. There may also be a financial pay off, one that includes a nice benefit package as well.
Never say never when you have an eclipse light up your hopes and wishes as it is now, Libra!

August 5, Venus enters your 12th house.
The 12th house can be one of the most difficult areas of your horoscope. Since Saturn is transiting this sector, I second that comment. It’s a quiet place, a place of retreat and isolation, and the area where you go when you worry or become depressed.
Venus may lessen some of the negative affects of feeling isolated. Venus may help you enjoy the quiet, while re-evaluating the areas that are most important to you, and happily catch up on some much needed rest. Any work that you do behind the scenes now could make you feel more confident about your abilities. She may also help you find some form of work that you’ll do alone that increases your earnings.
You may lack material pleasures during this time, but you can benefit through greater spiritual awareness by looking within yourself, helping others less fortunate, and loving unconditionally.
In addition, secret love affairs can develop under this transit, possibly with a friend, or co-worker.
August 10, Mercury enters your 12th house.
This transit works well for research or study as you may work or think better alone now. Secrets may be shared, or you may keep your opinions to yourself. You may spend more time thinking about your problems or you could feel as if others don’t understand you. If this happens to you, take time to read, write in your journal, or work on something that will keep your mind busy. Be careful of brooding or dwelling on depressing thoughts. You will benefit from spending more time meditating and connecting to your spiritual side.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced one to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 months. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six months takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Libra, this lunar eclipse falls in your 5th house.
If your birthday falls Oct 13– Oct 21, you will feel this eclipse more than others in your sign. Neptune conjuncts the moon at this time therefore Neptune will rule this eclipse. There may be something hidden, you may be asked to shed illusions, move away from the past, or let go of a negative situation.
This eclipse may spotlight a child or a pregnancy. Your child may start a new phase of life by going off to school, finishing school and going off to college, or they could receive recognition for something that sets them apart from others. If your child has had a health condition where they never seem to fully recover, such as ear infections, problems with tonsils, or nose bleeds, this eclipse could close a chapter for you now. Because the planet that often keeps things hidden is transiting your 5th house of children, should your child receive a health diagnosis, I recommend a second opinion. Misdiagnosis can happen to anyone at anytime. If you have been waiting for a baby, this eclipse could find you parenting this time next year. Or you could become a grandparent for the first time and the news may come by surprise.
This eclipse could end a chapter of a romantic relationship by moving you to the next level of your relationship. The opposite could happen if you are involved in a relationship that is not healthy for you. You, of all the signs need balance and harmony in your relationships. If you are caught up in a negative situation, the universe will show you the way out…on its terms. Single unattached Libras may be putting a romantic dry spell behind them in the months ahead. Remember there will be more friends and socializing for you in the near future; you could meet someone special and start dating.
Creatively, you may feel like a genius at times. Artistic endeavors may be finalized during this eclipse season. Publishing your works, whether it be a song, a book, or getting a patent for something you’ve designed is possible. On the other hand, something you have worked long and hard on could be rejected, which could send you in a new direction. There are always two sides to everything.
Risky investments or risk taking ventures are not advised for you, Libra, unless your natal chart supports it. With Neptune in charge you could lose your shirt. If you or your partner takes risks, financially or otherwise, this eclipse could find you settling in to a more relaxed lifestyle.
August 19, Mars enters Libra.
Mars has been transiting you’re your 12th house since July 1. Remember the Mercury transit where I mentioned it could affect your moods and feelings? Well, if the energy of Mars in the same 12th house isn’t utilized properly, you can end up feeling frustrated and unappreciated. Mars is also an impatient planet so you could feel as though your patience is running very thin during this time. You may have some repressed issues that you need to let out. In doing so, be mindful of the words you use when approaching others as feelings could be hurt or conversations can become heated.
Emotionally, you may feel stronger and may be ready help others through hard times. Giving of yourself to those that have a need is a commendable quality, but be careful that you don’t take on other people’s problems. Also, keep in mind that Mars is an action-oriented planet, if you have a secret, it could be exposed!
On August 19 Mars moves into your sign, giving you the burst of energy you need to move forward or get hard work out of the way. You may become competitive during this transit or you may work hard to make progress in a relationship or contract. This would be the perfect time for you to start an exercise routine, Libra. Mars likes nothing better than to push the limits. Mars can cause rashes and accidents as it transits over your sun. Please don’t worry that something will happen to you, but do watch your step.
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 12th house.
This transit is one of rejuvenation, one where you may want to go off alone. You’ve just come through a social time where you were focused on group activities and friends. Now you will rest up for your upcoming solar return, when the sun returns to your sign and spotlights your personal themes for the year ahead.
This is the house of spiritual awareness; therefore, you may focus on spiritual growth, meditation or religious groups. This would be a good time for study and work on projects, as stated previously. With Mars transiting your sign you’ll probably get more accomplished. You are ending a complete cycle through the zodiac. Soon it will be your birthday and you will have your coming out party, Libra. It’s time to let go of the patterns or issues that are not working for you in order to move forward in your new year. Be careful of negative thinking, keep yourself busy.
