August 2008 Monthly Horoscope Forecast

As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, the Sun transits your 3rd house.
This month your attention turns to your immediate environment and the people you deal with on a daily basis. This is the perfect time to look at how you relate to others, to open up and share your feelings, or to present your ideas. If you are the one who always carries a conversation, take a step back and listen to what others have to say. You may spend more time talking or visiting with siblings, neighbors or other relatives.
This is a busy time with appointments, errands, email, phones calls and/or handling more paperwork. You may take many short trips, transportation issues may be on your agenda, or you maybe planning a vacation.
If you work in a creative field such as writing, music, design or the arts, you will benefit by learning all you can, perhaps by taking a new course of study or reading a series of books. No matter who you are, this transits favors all types of learning and communications as your mind needs to be fed.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
Opinions do vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spots are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something a within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Gemini, this solar eclipse is in your 3rd house.
This solar eclipse will have greater impact on Gemini’s born May 28 – June 4, although all Gemini’s may notice the energy at work in their lives. Your ruler, Mercury, will conjunct the solar eclipse which could influence how you communicate, your thought processes, or negotiations. This solar eclipse may translate to an agreement or contract or it may carry news related to a sibling or a relative.
This eclipse could change how you communicate or exchange ideas in a relationship. This relationship may be romantic, or it may be one where you are a member of a group or organization. Disappointments that you may have experienced due to lack of communications or clarity should clear up now.
An eclipse to your 3rd house may send you back to the classroom, or you may decide to research or study a new topic of interest. The energy at work may find you increasing your knowledge over the next six months and becoming quite savvy your field. Your creative mind or critical thinking faculties may be enhanced more so now than ever before, you may even surprise yourself now, Gemini.
You may be asked to participate in a cause that helps your community or you may be put in some type of leadership position because of your expertise. If you are a writer, an article of yours could be published in a local newspaper or magazine. If you’ve been stuck in a certain way of thinking, your mind may open up to new and exciting revelations now.
Frequent short trips may be on your agenda in the months ahead. These trips may concern family members, possibly those that can’t come to visit you or may be for conditions surrounding your children.
Contracts and agreements may begin under these alignments. These contracts could concern something going on in your home or family. You may be redecorating or remodeling your home and may be hiring someone to help you. Real estate issues are favored with Jupiter now poised in your 8th house of mortgages and loans. You may be planning on buying a larger home to meet the growing needs of your family. Other important discussions surrounding family may relate to debts, insurances, inheritances, your partners income, health concerns or surgery. This eclipse may put you in contact with the people who will assist you.
August 5, Venus enters your 4th house, Mercury follows August 10.
Home may be a place of refuge now as long as you enjoy your surroundings, Gemini. With Venus here you may host a party, spend more money on decorating your home, or enjoy time socializing with family members. This transit also favors entertaining trips that include family.
There may be more activity in the home with people coming or going. You may spend more time talking with your Mother as her needs will be important to you, or you may find that she is on your mind now. This is the best time for family relationships so if you have had a falling out with someone in your home (roommates included) now would be the time to mend fences.
Mercury’s influence in your 4th house may bring the need to withdraw from others and you may find yourself brooding, or going over your past experiences. This is a good transit for you to look at past patterns or experiences and talk about how you feel. You may find yourself telling your children quite a few stories about your childhood now.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced one to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 month’s. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six month’s takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Gemini, this lunar eclipse falls in your 9th house.
If your birthday falls June 12- June 20 you will feel this eclipse more than others, although every Gemini may sense the winds of change. The planetary ruler of this eclipse is Neptune. You may be asked to shed illusions, let go of the past, set your own agenda, or move out of a negative situation. This eclipse may also have some bearing on your career if you are employed, or it may concern a parental figure or your mate. Look for these influences in the forecast for your rising sign, Gemini.
Mars and Pluto will be in a difficult aspect during this eclipse. These two dynamic energies cause disruptions, ignite tempers, cause power struggles and compulsive behavior. Pluto is the planet of transformation, which is usually subtle, but when you have an action driven planet like Mars involved the results become very telling. Astrologers know that when a planet is at the end of a sign, as Mars is now, that the energy of that planet is already at work in the next sign. Mars is currently poised at the end of your 4th house of home and family but its energy is active in the sector of your chart governing children, creative expression or risk taking. Soon you will see how these issues could play a role in the eclipse.
Long distance travel may be influenced in the months ahead. If you have gotten use to taking trips whenever you had the notion, this eclipse may bring an end to your traveling for a while. This could be the result of having to spend more time with family, to care for a family member, or because the needs or living conditions surrounding home or family will change. On the other hand, this eclipse may find you having to travel possibly due to a concern for your parents, or because your family will relocate far from your home base. News concerning your sibling moving could also play a role in this eclipse. If this is you, this could be a sad time if you are separated from a close sibling or your family.
Your beliefs or spiritual development may be influenced by this eclipse. If you’ve been stuck in a certain way of thinking, something could happen now that changes your philosophy on life. Too often we think we are on the right path when something happens in our life unexpectedly. At that point and we completely change what we previously thought important. This eclipse may bring you new awareness about yourself, which may include something you have done to prevent personal growth or achievements. Letting go of negative thinking or patterns of behavior is sometimes harder than living with them. Something going on now will help to build your self-confidence as well.
Matters related to the legal system may come to an end now, or you may initiate a legal contract that will be in full force by the time we get to the next series of eclipses in January. If you’re involved in something concerning a lawsuit or you need the assistance of a lawyer, your family or parents may assist you, or it may concern a property related issue. Other legal areas may concern inheritance, taxes, insurances, stocks or investments, child support, alimony or employment grievances. There are implications surrounding this eclipse that suggest this may have been done secretively or there may be some secrets behind it. While the process may be difficult for you to go through you have three planets at a supportive angle to Lucky Jupiter. Saturn combined with Jupiter will help you to achieve your objectives and can result in a favorable settlement of legal disputes, Gemini.
Your education may be influenced due to the energies at work. Some Gemini’s will earn their degree before the next series of eclipses or this eclipse may help you to realize that your success is tied to acquiring more knowledge in your field.
Or you may be going back to school because employers are not only looking at your experience but also your education. Naturally, some Gemini’s could have to leave college because of finances, family issues, or having trouble balancing their lives. If this is you, Gemini, it may be a temporary situation.
August 19, Mars bolts into your 5th house.
Mercury enters this house Aug 28, and Venus enters on Aug 30. Since July 1st you may have had more opportunity to spend time with family, work on home-related projects, or there may have been disruptions to your family’s schedule. Issues surrounding in-laws may have given you trouble, or you may have helped extended family in some way.
During this next transit you may put your energy into the creative arts, hobbies, crafts, games, vacations and other areas of enjoyment. You may be more playful, a joker, or more fun loving during this time. This is not a time to be alone or dwell on serious issues in life. You will be driven to perform creatively or you may be ready to take a risk. You could also become more competitive now.
Giving and receiving love will be important to you, and you may not weigh the consequences of decisions made concerning romance or dating. This happens because your desire to have a romantic relationship is strong now. Be careful if you are the flirtatious type, sometimes this transit could bring you more than you bargained for. This transit can cause problems in romantic relationships, either because your needs aren’t being met, due to lack of communication, or because of misunderstandings.
If you have children, you will be more involved in their activities, they may be needier, or if they are older, you could be faced with some trying circumstances that require some sort of action on your part. Keep a watchful eye on the little ones as Mars can cause rashes, inflammation and accidents while transiting this sector. There may be more minor mishaps now.
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 4th house.
When the sun transits your domestic zone the spotlight is on family affairs, or you may just want to be in familiar surroundings. This transit may highlight property matters that need attention. This is a favorable time to hire someone for home repairs or projects. Family, property and possessions will be important to you now.
Habits and past patterns are 4th house themes. This would be a good time for you to look at ways to give up a habit which could be something that has prohibited your from making progress in an area of your life. Memories about your past or family may reflect what going on inside of you right now. This is a good transit for bringing greater awareness to your inner workings.
