As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, The Sun transits your 8th house.
You are still dealing with financial matters this month, Capricorn. Taxes, loans, child support, alimony, insurances, workman’s compensation, mortgages, or financial favors may play a role for you. If you are in a committed relationship, your partner’s income may be highlighted now. This is a good transit for budgets and managing debt although there could be problems if you are having trouble in this area.
The 8th house governs surgery and healing. If areas of finance don’t come up, perhaps you have been concerned about a health matter. No surgery should be scheduled around this month’s lunar eclipse, as we do bleed more during this time. This is also a time of regeneration, such as letting go of some part of the past so a new door can open for you. Emotions may run high, psychic tendencies and dreams may be pronounced, especially August 11-13.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
Opinions do vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spot dates are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Capricorn, this solar eclipse is in your 8th house.
If your birthday falls Dec 28- Jan 5 you will feel this eclipse more than other Caps, although every Capricorn may sense the shifts in their lives. There is a new beginning in store for you, although something may end which makes room for something fresh.
Mercury will conjunct the luminaries (sun and moon) which makes Mercury ruler of this eclipse. Issues surrounding money, bills, your partner’s income, and surgery and/or healing may come in the form of news, documents, through important legal developments, or may come from far away. This could be in regards to work or the health of yourself, your mate or an important family member, such as a parent.
Relationships may be the theme of this eclipse for some Capricorns. In your committed relationship this eclipse could influence your partner’s income, their health or deep emotional issues. This eclipse may put either one of you in contact with a specialist which could benefit your current situation. You or your partner may travel which nets more income, or there could be a transfer if career is influenced.
This eclipse may be the beginning of the end concerning debts, payouts, or financing. You could buy your first home under these influences, get an equity loan for home projects, payoff your bills, or learn to live within a budget to save money for retirement. You could receive a nice compensation from a legal issue you were involved with.
This eclipse may concern a child of yours. There could be a pregnancy or the birth of a child which could have more influence on you than the title of grandparent.
If you are long suffering from something that happened in your past, this eclipse can find you healing from the inside out. This is a time for renewal, which may have nothing to do with a partner’s income or your debts. This solar eclipse may influence you deep within by changing patterns of thinking which may have prohibited personal growth. You may feel much more optimistic about your future in the months ahead.
August 5, Venus enters your 9th house, Mercury follows August 10.
Travel opportunities to places far from where you are now may be on your agenda. You may meet people from a different background than your own and take home new knowledge. If you do travel, your accommodations should be pleasant and the people you come in contact with should be warm and friendly.
If you don’t travel, you should expect more study time, contact with lawyers, legal or government negotiations, education matters, or time spent on religious or spiritual pursuits. This would be a favorable time to contact an attorney, book a vacation, talk to a college professor, contact a publishing company, reach out to your family members that live long distance, or start an online business. Your thinking and long-term outlook may improve.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced one to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 months. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six months takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Capricorn, this lunar eclipse falls in your 2nd house.
If your birthday falls Jan 12 - 20 you will feel this eclipse more than others Capricorns, but all Capricorns may relate to the influence of this eclipse in the months ahead. The planetary ruler of this eclipse is Neptune as it conjuncts this lunar eclipse. You may be asked to shed illusions, move away from the past, or let go of a negative situation.
Pluto, the planet of transformation is poised at the end of your 12th house. This house governs isolation, something hidden, secrets and endings. Mars poised at the final degree of your 9th house of legal and long distance matters squares Pluto. When these two are at odds, tempers flare and people refuse to give up what they cling to, which may be beliefs, possessions or values. This combination can also throw you a monkey wrench, one that comes out of the blue, however the energy can transform your life from top to bottom, especially if natal planets support it.
Please read your rising sign for career or your work influences. Some Capricorns may experience a shift in their income as both of your financial houses are lit up during this eclipse. Your ruler and two personal planets are sitting in your 9th house, these three energies combined are reaching out to Jupiter, your benefactor, in your sign and the results are favorable for you. What this suggests is that if a financial matter ends, you will move forward, perhaps to something which nets more money than where you are now. However, don’t build your castle on wishful thinking; there may be some initial disappointment. If this has nothing to do with you personally, it may be in regards to your business partner or your mate.
Relationships built on sex, emotional manipulation, or money could end under this eclipse.
A decision may be made now concerning child support, inheritances, living wills, debts, alimony, your partner’s income, or another source of money coming in. This news may come in as a legal matter, or it may be something you instigate. There could be disagreements with a family member about any one of these topics I have mentioned. Something could develop that concerns you about long-term security needs. Travel, someone at a distance, the law, or relocation may carry undertones to your change in fortune.
Another possibility related to this eclipse is that it may change what you have valued. I think many of us can relate to directing our energy at acquiring money or possessions until something tragic happens in our lives and our focus shifts quickly to what really matters. Within an instant we realize that money or collections mean nothing if we lose a loved one, a friend or even our favorite pet. What good are things when you’re not truly happy? These are natural courses in life; sometimes they happen to help us move on or to make room for new people to come into our lives. Something going on now may be just what you needed to revaluate what’s important to you.
August 19, Mars bolts into your 10th house.
Since July 1st you may have had the opportunity to travel, connect with people at a distance, study, or you may have been active within your spiritual group. You may have spent more time looking into legal matters or you may have been wrapped up in a court case. Now the light changes and your career, parents, partner, or your position will be emphasized.
If you are employed, this transit may translate to more work. Your boss may seem demanding expect you to accomplish more, or may ask that you put in more hours. You may be working hard to meet a deadline. There could be heated discussions at the office now, or upsets among co-workers. You may be driven to compete, either at work or for the sake of your reputation.
There are influences related to the law right now. Mercury enters this sector on Aug 28 so you’ll want to watch the speed limit, Capricorn.
This transit may effect your home situation. There may be parental issues that cause disruptions, or there may be concerns related to the dominant parent in your family. There may be changes in the home or family due to your partner’s career, perhaps because of their travel schedule. Issues surrounding your partner’s work or health may be a concern for you.
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 9th house.
After a month of financial issues, now you will turn your attention to your beliefs, education, legal matters and/or long distance travel or relationships. You may attempt to broaden your horizons on several different levels. Wait until people see how smart you are next month!
This transit may find you traveling far from where you are now. The 9th house is concerned with expanding your knowledge, so if you do travel you will learn something new. A surprise trip could come up for your partner or for yourself, either for career reasons or to visit a parent or in-law.
You may be involved in your church, or if you don’t have a church, this could be a time where you are thinking of finding a place to worship. You could spend more time reading or researching areas that concern spirituality, healing or personal development.
This is the house that governs truth and law. You could become involved in a legal issue, or you may be looking into legal matters for personal or business reasons.
