August 2008 Monthly Horoscope Forecast

As you enter the month of August the cosmos is highly charged with eclipse energy. Your horoscope has been expanded with information pertaining to this month’s eclipses and previous Leo/Aquarius eclipses to your solar chart.
You’ll also find dates when the atmosphere will be ripe for developments related to this eclipse. Please read your rising sign for a comprehensive outlook on this month’s eclipse activity; you will need your birth time. The information for all signs has been repeated in each horoscope, so once you read it you can scroll through it in the next forecast.
August 1 – August 22, The Sun transits your 7th house.
Venus transits this sector through August 5 and Mercury hangs around until Aug 10. With three personal planets influencing your partnerships this month, important relationship developments are in the cards. This is an important transit for intimate relationships and marriage, Aquarius. If you are in a relationship, use this time to evaluate your relationship and take necessary steps to improve on your relationship skills. Your partner’s needs and ambitions are important to you now. You will not want to be alone this month and your pleasure will come through reaching out to others, whether it is business or in your personal life.
This is also a good time to consult a specialist who could offer you advice in order for you to move ahead. Give yourself freely, the rewards are substantial.
Aug 1, 2008, Total Solar Eclipse 10° Leo for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to Saros Series #126. It is not visible from the United States. It starts in northern Canada, passes the North Pole, into Northern Russia and south east into China. In Britain it will be visible as a partial eclipse. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
Each Saros cycle repeats itself approximately every 18 years 9 - 11 days, however the eclipse will have moved approximately 10 degrees through the zodiac. Therefore, the last eclipse in this series which occurred July 22, 1990 at 29° Cancer has moved 10 degrees to 10° Leo this month.
If the 1990 eclipse in this series changed your life, it is not likely that the same events will occur during this eclipse. There could be a similar theme that arises due to the saros series having a similar nature. An example: You got your first job in 1990; this eclipse could find you changing directions in your career. Or, you had your first child; this eclipse may find your child starting college or getting married. The theme of career or children will stand out among other things. If you are old enough, think back to that time and what significant event happened in your life as a result of that eclipse. Some of the same issues or energy may color your present circumstances due to this eclipse which will have a lasting effect on your direction.
Additionally, we want to look at when the last eclipse occurred at 10° Leo for other clues as to how you respond to eclipse activity if you have a planet near this degree. Even if you do not have your birth time, you can still find clues in the nature of the planet being influenced. The last eclipses to occur in Leo were in 1999 and 2000. Jan 31, 1999 (lunar) and July 31, 2000 (solar) we had an eclipse within orb of this eclipse degree in Leo. Those Leo eclipses were of a different saros series and contain different energy threads than the eclipse season we are going through now. Nevertheless, previous eclipses to planets or angles in your chart may provide telling signs of what will manifest and how you handle the energy presented.
Hosting an eclipse in the fixed fire sign of Leo will touch all of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) in some respect and these signs will feel the power of this eclipse to some extent. If you have planets or angles (house 1,4,7,10) in any of these signs between 6-13 degrees, these planets and angles should be considered sensitive points in your chart. The element of the sign describes how the eclipse will be felt, or what type of crisis could result. Taurus (physical issues or tangible items) Leo (your will, creative energy) Scorpio (emotional, vague or unclear issues) Aquarius (intellectual).
While opinions may vary as to how tight the orb should be kept, I believe any planet within 4 degrees of the eclipse will awaken to the energy. There are several charts in my research (my own included) where planets were influenced by an eclipse up to 7 degrees.
The general rules for the duration of a solar eclipse is that the energy affects your circumstances one year for every hour of the eclipse’s duration, up to 3 ½ years. Astrological research has shown that an eclipse can change a life permanently. Another rule is that eclipses last from one solar eclipse to the next solar eclipse or lunar eclipse to lunar eclipse. For forecasting purposes, the life span of this solar eclipse in Leo will last until the next solar eclipse Jan. 26, 2009, although it may be activated by future transits for several more years.
While eclipse energy is often felt within a month on either side of the eclipse, there are hot spots that may trigger events related to the eclipse. Those hot spot dates are when the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 1, 2008, although you may hear something within a few days on either side of this date. Then when the sun opposes the eclipse Jan 28/29, 2009 (just 3 days after our next solar eclipse).
Each eclipse has a ruler, the planet ruling the sign where the eclipse falls. Should there be another planet within 3 degrees of the luminaries (sun or moon) that planet becomes the ruler of the eclipse. Mercury will conjunct this solar eclipse and its influence will likely be expressed through paperwork, documents, agreements, contracts, or some form of news.
All eclipses, whether solar or lunar have the potential to change your circumstances. They are expressed through a crisis of some sort. Often times a new beginning involves letting go of something from the past, whether it be a person, a relationship, an object, or behavior. If this eclipse is conjunct or in opposition to a planet in your natal chart you should expect those planets to become sensitized to the energy. The houses that the planet rules in your chart will be influenced as well and issues that involve those houses will come up for review. This eclipse will have a power rating of a triple new moon and the message that it carries will have a positive outcome in your life even if you don’t see this during the transitional phase.
This is a new moon which points to fresh starts, new opportunities, and exciting new possibilities. The universe pours its energy into the house of this Solar Eclipse and will show itself in your outward circumstances. In other words, the eclipse will change something in your life that will be apparent for all to see.
The Universe has a way of moving us forward in our lives to a point where we become a better version of ourselves. The process can be easy or difficult; it really depends on how you handle what develops. Trust that whatever comes up is important for you as you are evolving into the person you were destined to become.
Aquarius, this solar eclipse falls in your 7th house of business contracts, marriage and committed relationships. This eclipse could concern you or a partner. Unless you have a difficult aspect to planets in your natal chart, your solar chart shows new possibilities for signing agreements and making important commitments. If your birthday falls Jan 27 – Feb 3 you will feel this eclipse more than others, although all Aquarians may notice the shifts. The ruler of this eclipse is Mercury and it conjuncts the luminaries. New beginnings or changes may come in the form of news, documents or phone calls. Issues related to children, creative endeavors or projects, investments, child support, alimony, loans, financial compensation, insurance, or other money you pay or receive may also be topics of importance at this time.
This eclipse may find you moving forward in a romantic relationship. If you are dating someone, you may want to move to commitment by dating this person exclusively. If you are in love, you may become engaged, or you could marry under this eclipse. Neptune is currently transiting your sign. Neptune can bring heightened sensitivity in your love life, you may be devoted to your partner, or you may be inspired by your lover to take your relationship to a new level. My husband asked me to marry him the year my natal Neptune received an eclipse; we married 7 months later. I must add for some Aquarians that the opposition between Neptune and Venus which occurred the last days of July and is now separating may have brought some disappointments. No relationship is perfect, but any relationship that makes you happy is worth the extra effort.
This eclipse could find you changing your mind about an unhappy relationship, or you may already know that it’s time for you to move on. No relationship is worth sacrificing your happiness if it’s not working out. If this eclipse conjuncts or opposes an outer planet in your chart or makes difficult aspects to the heavy hitter planets in your natal chart, a relationship could end, which would be the beginning of a new relationship to come into your life. New beginnings are often the result of new endings. You probably understand this comment more than anyone.
Some Aquarians could initiate paperwork for reasons related to children, creative endeavors or projects, investments, child support, alimony, loans, mortgages, financial compensation, insurance, or other money you pay out or receive from a source aside of your income. You may need to hire a lawyer, banker, financial consultant, or specialist. The relationship you form with any of these people may be well under way before we reach the next eclipse season in 2009. If this is you, late August and September will be important time-lines for you.
If you have been working on a creative project, this eclipse could find you presenting your works to someone who wants your expertise for themselves or their business. You could sign a publishing contract. Your art may hang in a fine gallery, you may become a design expert for a large company, you may be asked to lead others in a creative field, or you could receive recognition for an ingenious idea. While this is not a career eclipse it could influence work you are doing. Or you may be the one interested in someone as I have just described.
August 5, Venus glides into your 8th house, Mercury follows Aug 10.
Money may come easily, but it usually leaves your hands just as quickly for Venus rules beauty and life’s comforts. You may finance luxury items, entertainment, gifts, or education purposes. Your investments may pay higher dividends during this transit. Bankers and creditors may be more willing to offer you credit now.
Sexual desires may be more pronounced, you may feel sexier during this transit, or sexual issues may be discussed with your partner. This transit is not likely to bring you a sexual relationship if you don’t already have one.
You could have more meaningful conversations with partners and connect on an emotional level because you will feel much more sympathetic to their needs during this transit. Be careful that you don’t become jealous, for this is a time that your passions may run high.
August 16, 2008 Partial Lunar Eclipse 25° Aquarius for all signs.
This eclipse belongs to saros series 138. Visible over most of Asia, Australasia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Although only a partial eclipse, this eclipse should be quite spectacular. (Source: NASA eclipse page)
The last eclipse in this saros series occurred Aug. 6, 1990 at 14 Aquarius. This eclipse has moved 10 degrees further along the zodiacal longitude, therefore if the last eclipse in this series was felt in your life, this eclipse would be much different unless you have natal planets conjunct or opposite the sun in Leo or the full moon in Aquarius. Natal planets or angles within 4 degrees of 24 degrees of the fixed signs, Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius and Leo may also become sensitive to the lunar eclipse energy.
Let’s look at when we had our last eclipse at or near 24 Aquarius in order to help judge how your chart responds to this series of eclipses. Feb 16, 1999 a solar eclipse in Aquarius within orb of our current eclipse. Something that began then may end now. Looking back at previous eclipses to your chart is merely a tool to help judge corresponding eclipse activity to your chart. The energy that each individual saros series contains is presented in past and future eclipses of the same series. The saros cycle and the energy it contains carry more weight.
Do not be misled by anyone who suggests a partial eclipse to have less impact than a total eclipse. They have obviously never experienced a partial eclipse to planets or angles in their chart. The last partial eclipse in this series changed my life, my future, my family, my home, my status, my spiritual awareness and led me to my study of astrology. It was mentioned on my Your Astrologer page. The last year has proven to me that I have come full circle in 18 years with many similar themes and underlying cosmic currents. You may sense similarities in your life as well.
I’ve mentioned that solar eclipses influence your outward circumstances, areas that are obvious. Lunar eclipses tend to influence relationship matters and when they touch an important planet or angle in your chart, they too may change your circumstances which would be obvious to others. Single or attached; your relationship with something or someone could change soon. Just as our monthly full moon touches us inwardly and emotionally and points to the culmination of a particular relationship or event, a lunar eclipse does the same although it is much more powerful.
The rules for the duration of this lunar eclipse are that the life span is equal to one month for every hour of the eclipse, lasting up to 6 months. This Lunar eclipse at 24 Aquarius will last 3 hrs 9 min which suggests that you will know how this eclipse will unfold by the time the sun squares the eclipse degree Nov 15/16, 2008 although the energy is active a few days before and after these dates. Six months takes us to the next lunar eclipse Feb 9, 2009.
Pay attention to information that comes in during all eclipses because once a planet triggers and sets into motion energies related to the eclipse you may feel caught off guard. Eclipses influence our sense of timing and may cause us to feel that we are not ready, or there isn’t enough time to assimilate all that is going on. Try not to make any fast moves or decisions during an eclipse because the atmosphere is too volatile and there probably isn’t much you can do to change the situation at hand. It will prove to be more disruptive if you try and cling to any changes that are forthcoming. You may feel this eclipse within a month to the day on either side of the eclipse, or it may take until the next lunar eclipse in February to fully take shape. If you have planets directly influenced by this eclipse, it is unlikely that you will have to wait to hear something concerning the planet influenced and the houses that it governs in your chart.
Aquarius, this lunar eclipse falls in your sign.
Aquarians with birthdays Feb. 12-18 will feel this eclipse more than others in the sign. The planetary ruler of this eclipse is Neptune as it conjuncts this lunar eclipse. Neptune is currently transiting your sign and rules over your 2nd house of money. This eclipse may translate to financial issues as well. With Neptune playing host to this eclipse, you may be asked to put a long term financial worry behind you, you may experience disappointment, an important relationship could end, or you could take important steps to end a long-term agreement.
Mars, now at the end of your 8th house of debts, sex, and monetary gains squares Pluto which is in the last degrees of your 11th house of groups, friends and hopes and wishes. These two planets are known for disruptions and transformation which is a dynamic combination. Saturn (builds long-term security) Mercury (governing agreements or news) and Venus (love and money) are at a supportive angle to Jupiter (your benefactor) in the last house of your horoscope. It looks like a long-term financial, business or emotional agreement may end soon. You may or may not be ready, but your long-term outlook is covered by the stars. Additionally, astrologers know that when a planet is within 3 degrees of the end of any sign (as Pluto is now) the energy of that planet is influencing the next sign. In your case, Pluto’s energy is already in the last house of your solar chart, which relates to something final. We will look at influences related to your 11th and 12th house.
This lunation may reflect issues going on in your life and/or your personal relationships. If you are involved in a long-term relationship or contract, this eclipse may highlight what’s going on.
Marriage is a contract and so is a committed relationship such as a common law union. If your relationship has been fraught with difficulties, it could end, especially if the lunar eclipse makes difficult aspects to important planets in your chart. Relationships built on sex, monetary gain, or emotional manipulation may end as well. This could concern a friendship, a marital partner, a business contract, or an ex partner if you are divorced. Any of these possibilities could require you to contact an attorney, specialist or consultant.
This is not a career eclipse, but there may be career or work themes for you so please read your rising sign. I mentioned that Pluto is at the end of your 11th house. This sector of your chart concerns groups that you are affiliated with. Pluto has rulership over your 10th house of career. Mars is about to enter your 9th house of education, travel and legal matters. One possibility is that a contract you are working on ends. You may be asked to lead your group or could be promoted to a managerial position. You may be asked to get further education or training in your field or you may feel it’s necessary to go back to school in order to secure your position within your company. There could be long distance travel coming for you in regards to your career or the work you are doing. There could be some sort of restructuring within your company or on the job. Or you may file a grievance if you have been treated unfairly at work in a business contract. The payoff could be monetary gains or better benefits, all of which could help your family or home situation.
You should not be concerned that a happy relationship would end under this eclipse. These types of situations do happen, but your natal chart must be considered at all times. Divorce or separations don’t happen unless your birth chart and progressions support it. Upsets may develop, but your natal chart holds the promise of a lifetime.
Three personal planets enter your 9th house this month.
August 19, Mars enters your 9th house, Mercury enters on August 28, Venus follows on Aug 30. This is an important time for higher education, your philosophy, long distance travel or relations and legal issues.
Your long held beliefs will be strong during this time and you will defend them. Be careful that you do not force your opinions on others, unless you are looking for a good debate. Well placed used of this energy is more suited for research, travel, literature, spiritual or personal development areas.
The 9th house is the house of law; therefore you may receive news concerning a case that you are involved with or you may contact an attorney. There is a possibility that the case could present some difficulties or challenges, however that does not spell defeat. You may be the one that is apprehensive about a legal matter or an issue that has legal implications.
It’s back to the classroom time for many Aquarians; no doubt these important planets will influence students now.
Aug 22, the Sun transits your 8th house.
Credit, taxes, loans, gifts, sex, mortgages, child support, or resources you owe or receive from others are important for you now. You may be thinking of ways to handle your finances, debts, credit scores and/or investments in order to help stabilize your circumstances. Getting a loan or financial assistance may be something you have on your agenda during this transit.
The 8th house is also the house of death, rebirth, and regeneration. Deeper issues of life and death may be on your mind now, or you may look into issues concerning wills or inheritances. The sun in this house will not bring physical death, but something in your life may be transformed and highlighted by this transit.
This is also the house of deep emotional and psychological responses. Old wounds could surface, however acceptance and forgiveness are possible if you are ready to move forward. Let go of emotional baggage during this time.
